Describing our Maryaada Purushottama Shri Raama!

Before he starts composing the Srimad Ramayanam, Maharishi Valmiki asks Devarishi Narada about that one ideal person with all the divine qualities. He describes 16 qualities that completely adorn Shri Raama – 

Devarishi Narada describes to Maharishi Valmiki 16 ideal gunas of the Maryada Purushottama Shri Raama.

Gunavaan –Virtuous

Viryavaan – Brave and energetic

Dharmajna – Knower of His duties (Dharma)

Kritajna – Grateful

Satyavaakya – One who speaks Truth

Dridhavrata – One firm in deeds and words

Chaaritravaan – One with appropriate character

Sarvabhooteshu Hitah – One who seeks welfare of all

Vidvaan – One who is learned and accomplished

Samartha – One who has all abilities

Priyadarshana – One who is pleasant to look at

Aatmavaan – One who is self-composed

Jitakrodha- One who has conquered anger

Dyutimaan – The Brilliant One

Anasooyaka – One who is never jealous

Bibhyatidevaa – One whom even the gods fear in war
